Imagine the worst possible thing that could happen to you in your life.
Well that is what I have been dealing with all this year.
Shane's death has cut me adrift. It has been a terrible, erratic and dark journey which by no means is near its end.
Early in 2007 I began to make plans for a trip for the start of October this year.
Then I cancelled it in January.
Only recently I began thinking that I needed a target to focus on, something to work for and to look forward to. So a few weeks ago I decided I would try and put the trip back on schedule.
Financially it will be very difficult, but travel has always been my greatest passion (whereas art making is my "religion"!!) so I can't think of a better way to spend my earnings. And I am hoping it will provide me with a catharsis, or a turning point with which to try and make a fresh start.
So the photos mean that (#1) this spring (Australia's) I plan to travel (#2) to Africa,to celebrate my (#3) birthday by (#4) climbing to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and also to learn to (#5) scuba dive on the (#6) spice island of Zanzibar. I will also be going on a (#7) camping safari in the Serengeti for 6 days.
Shane, of course, will be there with me in my heart.
